Your Joystick is damaged, control is random, or the Swich has what's known as a Joy-Con Drift. This is a technical problem affecting Nintendo controllers in particular, and is not just annoying, but really disabling.

Joy-Con Drift causes your controller to send commands on its own to the game you're playing, making your character move even though you're not touching the controller.

This replacement Joystick is suitable for left and/or right Joy-Con controllers and Switch Lite.

Everything's repairable! So go ahead and make your worn, broken or drifting joysticks as good as new. It's a very simple thing for a child to do, and there are plenty of tutorials on Youtube.

NOTE: Remember to calibrate the joystick using the setting on the Nintendo Switch after installation.
